My name is Neal Babcock.
A few years ago, I was programming a PLC that was being used to control a paint booth in a factory that manufactured 55 gallon drums. I looked up from the laptop to see three electricians peering over my shoulder.
I had been working with them for a few weeks, so it didn’t bother me, but I did ask them what they were doing.
They simply said that they wanted to see what I was doing.
I was happy to talk with them. I took a few minutes to explain the basics of PLCs, ladder logic and so on.
We ran out of time that day, but their questions inspired me to write “The Beginner’s Guide to PLC Programming”.
People seemed to really appreciate the book, so I decided to expand my repertoire and write a few more. That is how this whole thing got going.
